The ELEMENTary Mission is a series of activities that focus on matter, the elements and the organization of the periodic table. Students work collaboratively throughout the project and produce a final product which presents their cumulative research.

This Internet-based project is intended to part of larger, more expansive study of matter and the elements. Within the classroom, a teacher may introduce the concept of matter with Activity 1, then follow with a few experiments on states of matter. An effective curriculum program will interweave this project, laboratory experiments, textbook readings and appropriate activities, such as building molecular models to address the state science standards on matter, atomic structure and the periodic table. The specific Science standards that this project addresses are detailed above.
