Silicon is the fourteenth (14) element in the PERIODIC TABLE. It was named in 1817 by Thomas Thomson.

There is a lot of Silicon on the surface of the Earth. If you went looking for it, you would never find it alone. It usually combines with OXYGEN. You're probably sitting in front of some Silicon right now. It's in your computer!
