Nurse 6:

The period just before surgery is called the "pre-op period". The patient gets whatever medicines, markings, or special treatments that are important for the surgical procedure.

Pre-op solutions usually contain 0.2 mg atropine. The nurse has a solution of atropine containing 0.8 mg per cc.

  • How many cc of solution should the nurse administer?
  • One cc equals 16 minims. This is a unit used when small doses are called for.
