Medical Lab Technician 9:
Medical lab technicians are concerned with the number of white blood cells called eosinophils. Weíve already examined one method for counting eosinophiles
To double check the count, the lab tech can also count the total number of white blood cells (WBCís) per cubic millimeter (a millimeter is about the thickness in a dime--there are 1000 cubic millimeters in a cc) and then do a separate differential test to find the % of eosinophils in the WBC.
- If the WBC count reveals 5900 WBC per cubic millimeter, and the WBC differential test shows 8% eosinophils, how many eosinophils per cubic millimeter should there be?
