Mission Truly Possible Part I
These are the instructions for Part I of your mission

Today's secret pass word is "The Internet". You are to search the Internet and complete the following assignments:

Find and then print out a complete list of the endangered animals for your assigned state.

Try to identify the specific animal phylum and class that each animal on your list belongs to. (Chordata- mammal, reptile ; Arthopoda- insecta, crustacea, etc.)

Design a database or chart which includes the following categories of information: animal's common name; scientific name; classification (i.e., mammal, amphibian, insect); habitat (i.e., ocean, river, forest, grassland, desert); possible causes of endangerment. Include at least 10 species from your state's endangered animals list. Your chart might look something like the one shown below:

Record other information and facts about specific animals you investigate in your notes.

Questions for consideration:

Explain the meaning and difference between the following terms when applied to a species: (endangered, threatened, rare, and extinct ).
Explain in what ways the geography, climate, water and land resources have influenced what animals are found in your state.
Look over the data you collected and the charts you made. Can you see any patterns or corrolations in your data? Look for patterns of endangerment or extinction. Record your observations and conclusions in your notes.
